Advert counts
We count an advert when at least half is visible for one second, at most once per page load, and clicks on its website link. These basic counts record the advert identifier, not a browser identifier. Optional analytics adds visit and campaign context only if you allow it.
Saved plans
If you use My plans, the event identifiers are stored on your browser so you can return to your list. They are not synced between devices. Clearing browser storage removes the list.
Website counts
We count page loads and clicks on booking links to understand how the guide is used. These counts do not use cookies, persistent visitor identifiers, or profiles. Basic counting records contain the date, city edition and activity type, without visitor identifiers. Counts are not unique visitor numbers.
Optional audience analytics
If you allow analytics, we store a random browser identifier on your device for 30 days, a visit identifier renewed after 30 minutes of inactivity, and your consent choice for 90 days. Records include page paths, referrer domains, campaign labels, booking or advertiser clicks, and whether a page remained visible for 30 seconds. We do not store IP addresses, full referrer URLs or page query strings in these analytics records. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not a guarantee of anonymity. We use this information to understand audience activity and improve the guide; we do not create advertising profiles. Reports show up to 30 days of activity. Use Analytics preferences in the footer to decline or withdraw consent; withdrawing clears the analytics identifiers on your device and stops future detailed collection. The hosting provider may process technical request information to operate and secure the website. Owner sign-in is provided by ChatGPT. External booking websites have their own privacy policies.
Advertising enquiries
We store the business, contact name, email, city, requested dates, website and artwork links, supplied copy, permission confirmation and correspondence notes to respond and manage potential bookings. Access is restricted to the owner. An enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails or confirm a booking. Contact hello@iwasthere.site to request correction or deletion; financial records may need to be retained where legally required.
New-guide email alerts
If you opt in, we store your email address, the exact consent wording and version, the time you joined and optional campaign labels. We use these to send occasional emails when we publish a new guide to Lincoln and nearby, such as Christmas outings or locally recommended places to eat. Emails may include clearly labelled paid placements. There is no weekly schedule. Email delivery is not connected yet; addresses are currently unverified signup requests, reported separately from confirmed subscribers.
Your address is visible only to the owner and, when connected, the email delivery provider, not venues or advertisers. We do not subscribe event submitters or advertiser contacts automatically. Use your private removal link shown after joining, or email hello@iwasthere.site to withdraw and request deletion. Each guide email will include an unsubscribe option. We will review unsent signup requests within 90 days and remove them if guide emails do not launch. Brief security limits help prevent automated form abuse.
If you contact us, your email is forwarded through Porkbun to our inbox. We use it to respond and handle your submission. Please do not send sensitive personal information. Email hello@iwasthere.site to request deletion of your correspondence.
